Curiosity is basically the desire to discover, know and find out what is it that surrounds us. From the very beginning of time, human curiosity is what motivates us on the race that is survival. It has sometimes impulsed us to good will, helping others and ourselves. Some other times, we gnaw for uncertainty, knowing what and why, and it makes us be reckless, sometimes… leading us to death.
A young man determined to understand what is behind the uphill cold mountains from Coyhaique, inmerses himself in his own tale, ignoring every warning to not go on this task during winter dusk. Once he has reached the top of the mountain, surrounded by the quiet obscurity that blocks the way back home, he realises his big mistake… as he, unwillingly, began his quest for survival in the middle of the cold and unforgiving “patagonian” nights. Huddled under the mountanious walls, below the white snow that burned his face and limbs, as well as the thin air that sliced through his throat, he prepared to close his eyes in peace. However, after countless hours of freezing and starving, he ran vigurously out of his refuge, seduced by a light emerging uphill from the woods. Surprise is what he felt, when he realised that the bright glowing came from a small plain at the boundaries of the mountain, where in the middle, under an unrealistic scenario… there was a book, but not just any book. It’s the book that contained all of the legends, stories and tragedies from the region. Finally, guided by the madness, nearing the door to his own end, and triggered by his curiosity, he decides to open and read what’s written, not meditating about the consequences that may occur, condemning the townspeople’s lives, as well as his own…
